Road Safety Foundation receives international award

Date: 26/11/2010
The Road Safety Foundation has been honoured with an accolade in recognition of its achievements in assessment and analysis.A Prince Michael International Road Safety Award was presented to the organisation for work such as a 2010 tracking report, which is the largest investigation of its kind and demonstrates where high-risk roads are concentrated.
Organisers praised the foundation for being open to exploring new uses of data, seeking to have safety information incorporated into future satellite navigation systems and "producing the first map of deaths and serious injuries by parliamentary constituency, so that every MP is aware of the risks in their area."
Adrian Walsh, Director of RoadSafe, who presented the award, said the body's work has already helped to make Britain's roads less dangerous and can now be seen by the rest of the world.
Other initiatives to receive one of the Prince Michael awards recently include a qualification aimed at improving the road safety knowledge of teenagers, which was developed by the Driving Standards Agency and the Scottish Qualifications Authority.
