Royal wedding Oyster card unveiled

Date: 30/3/2011
Boris Johnson has announced the release of a special new Oyster card that has been created to celebrate the upcoming royal wedding.Transport for London (TfL) reveals that the city's Mayor unveiled the limited edition commemorative design, which will be available during the week before Prince William marries Kate Middleton at Westminster Abbey on April 29th.
Featured on the card is the date of the occasion and a picture of the couple at last year's press conference for their engagement.
It is the first time the capital's transport authority has produced a limited edition Oyster card - with around 750,000 set to be on offer.
Peter Hendy, London's Transport Commissioner, said: "London's transport network will play a key role in helping people travel to the wedding celebrations, so it is appropriate that we commemorate the day with a limited edition Oyster card."
Ahead of the big day, TfL has issued travel advice for anyone planning to journey around the capital on the bank holiday.
It notes that all Tube lines will be running, while there will be no congestion charge - although there will be several road closures.
