Date: 3/6/2010
Euro NCAP has expanded its website by providing safety information in two new languages. The site will now contain test results and data in French and Dutch and the establishment also has plans to release statistics in more languages including Spanish, Polish and Italian over the coming months.
Secretary-General of the organisation Dr Michiel van Ratingen said the move is one of many in the establishment's long-term plan to provide facts and figures on the safety of cars to every person in Europe.
"Information is power and this power will ensure consumers can protect themselves when they drive", he remarked.
According to the Euro NCAP website, the results of a recent Eurobarometer survey revealed 44 per cent of respondents stated they do not know any other language except their own.
All new car models have to pass safety tests before they are allowed to go on sale and Euro NCAP tries to persuade manufacturers to go beyond the minimum targets that are currently required by law.
