Searches for approved green models 'increasing'

Date: 7/2/2011

Following the launch of the Next Green Car (NGC) Approved list in November, the firm has seen the number of views and searches for such models increase.

Indeed, a rise of 28 per cent has been noted and as a result it has added more models to its Approved list, along with launching the NGC Approved Owner's club.

Melanie Shufflebotham of NGC said: "Our aim was to provide an independently selected up-to-date list highlighting the best of the best green cars and it seems that car buyers are responding to this."

She added that drivers are now able to identify which low emission vehicles best suit their needs, while also being good for the environment.

Models to have recently been added to the approved list include the Hyundai i10 1.0l, Vauxhall Astra Sport Tourer 1.3 CDTi and Fiat Qubo 1.3 Multijet 95.

In related news, the first regular shipment of 100 per cent electric Nissan LEAF vehicles arrived in north-east England last week.
