Smart unveils new electric car concept

Date: 24/2/2011
Smart has unveiled the details of a brand new electric car concept that is to be debuted at the upcoming Geneva Motor Show. The automaker, which is well-known for its iconic miniscule city car, has developed the new Forspeed model in the hope of proving "electric mobility can be fun."
As well as offering speeds of up to 120 km per hour, the vehicle has an additional 'booster' function of five kilowatts, which will allow motorists to easily overtake other cars if necessary.
With the traditional windscreen replaced with a small wind deflector, the Forspeed will also have no road or side windows "in the style of a classic propeller aircraft."
However, if drivers do get caught in a sudden downpour, drainage channels within the seats and floor work to ensure rain is deposited outside the vehicle.
The 81st International Geneva Motor Show runs from March 3rd to 31st and will feature exhibitions from Smart, as well as a whole host of other car manufacturers showcasing their latest concepts.
