South African football team joins road safety campaign

A football team is taking part in a road safety campaign in South Africa.Rustenburg-based club the Bakwena Platinum Stars have joined the United Nations Friends of the Decade of Action for Road Safety initiative.
Yesterday (December 14th), the team distributed information and literature regarding the subject along the Sun City-Ledig road alongside government road safety officials.
The Bakwena Platinum Stars are set to play the Moroka Swallows at Moruleng Stadium on Saturday and at half time, both team captains will pledge to support the Decade of Action for Road Safety Campaign.
This aims to stabilise and then reduce the number of deaths caused by incidents on the roads by 2020.
North West MEC for Human Settlements, Public Safety and Liaison Desbo Mohono welcomed the partnership.
A new road safety campaign called I-Pledge was launched by Imperial in South Africa last month, which hopes to change drivers' attitudes and make the country's highways safer, Southafrica.info reported.
