Subaru cars to be fitted with safety devices

Date: 11/5/2010
Drivers travelling in Subaru vehicles may be interested to hear the car manufacturer has created a safety device that helps motorists avoid collisions. The EyeSight feature will be available on Japanese production cars from the middle of this month and it uses two forward-facing cameras connected to the rear-view mirror to sound an alarm when the vehicle gets too close to the car in front.
If the person driving the car takes no action the technology will automatically slow or stop them to prevent an impact from occurring.
Another safety system has also been designed and this lets drivers cruise on a motorway safely by keeping a secure distance from the automobile in front.
If traffic jams occur the motor will routinely brake and stop the vehicle if needs be until flow is resumed.
Meanwhile, green cars could soon be fitted with an alarm to let walkers know they are nearby.
The University of California recently stated the zero-emission vehicles can get up to 40 per cent closer to pedestrians than their traditional counterparts, the Daily Mail reported.
