Date: 21/5/2012
Tesco Dotcom has been awarded the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents' (RoSPA) Managing Occupational Road Risk (MORR) award. This is the fourth time the organisation - which is the home delivery division of the supermarket - has received the accolade.
Head of Road Safety at RoSPA Kevin Clinton said: "The judges were extremely impressed with Tesco Dotcom's comprehensive and proactive approach to managing occupational road risk."
He commended the company on its van driver training programme, which he said complements an already "excellent MORR system".
Mr Clinton noted establishing best practice in this area will encourage other businesses with staff who drive for their jobs to try and reduce risks.
Tesco Dotcom received the accolade in 2007, before going on to win the prize every year from 2009 to 2012.
The RoSPA Occupational Health and Safety Awards were held over three days last week, with around 1,500 organisations recognised for their commitment in this area to managing risk and worker safety.
