TfL announces plans to combat high temperatures on transport network

Date: 5/7/2013
With the Met Office forecasting high temperatures for the coming fortnight, (TfL) Transport for London has outlined the measures it has taken to help combat heat on the capital's transport network.According to the organisation, all Metropolitan line trains are now air conditioned, with services on the Hammersmith and City and Circle lines set to benefit from the same technology by the end of the summer.
Indeed, by the end of next year all trains on the two lines should be air conditioned, and by 2016 40 per cent of the Tube network is expected to have these controls in place.
Other measures include cooling systems fitted at Green Park and Oxford Circus stations last year, and TfL is also set to issue hot weather advice to all passengers.
Phil Hufton, London Underground's Chief Operating Officer, said: "We are doing all we can to manage temperatures and, in the meantime, we ask customers to follow our tips for making travelling comfortable in hot weather."
