TfL to assume responsibility for West Anglia routes from Liverpool Street

Date: 3/7/2013
A number of mainline rail services running to and from Liverpool Street are set to be taken over by (TfL) Transport for London, the organisation has announced. The new arrangement will see TfL assume responsibility for certain West Anglia routes to Enfield Town and Chingford - as well as Cheshunt via Seven Sisters.
A total of 25 stations form part of the services that are set to be overhauled, with TfL taking over 23. Liverpool Street and Chingford are set to remain in the hands of either Greater Anglia or Network Rail.
Commenting on the new arrangement, Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: "You only have to look at the success of London Overground to see how TfL taking over this commuter service will transform the journey for passengers.
"It will also open up the north-east of London and drive jobs and growth in Tottenham and beyond."
Mike Brown, TfL's Managing Director for London Rail, added that the organisations plans to make the services more reliable - as well as upgrade facilities at the 23 stations that TfL will be responsible for under the fresh set-up.
