Date: 19/2/2010
A third senior figure has resigned from Scotland's largest transport authority amid an expenses investigation.Vice-chair of Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) Davie McLachlan resigned from his position today (February 18th) as Audit Scotland was brought in to investigate the authority's expense claims.
Chief executive Ron Culley and chairman Alistair Watson have also recently stepped down from their positions at SPT.
The resignations follow the release of expense claim details from senior figures at the SPT.
The figures, released through a Freedom of Information request, show more than £100,000 in expenses was claimed by senior officials at the organisation between 2006 and 2009.
SPT has now asked KPMG to review its expenses policy.
Mr McLachlan commented on his resignation decision: "Over the past few days SPT has received unjust criticism which has reflected on me. I believe that my position will be vindicated once the KPMG report is published."
