Toyota named Green Manufacturer of the Year

Toyota has picked up the Green Manufacturer of the Year accolade in the latest Fleet News Awards.The manufacturer was recognised for its commitment to developing hybrid vehicles and has produced some "outstanding" models, the judges stated.
Experts noted the company also works to make its factories as efficient at possible by using solar panels and recycling initiatives.
Ewan Shepherd, General Manager of Toyota/Lexus Fleet Services, said: "Not only do we offer the most diverse range of hybrid vehicles on the market, we are continuing to develop the technology and make it accessible to even more customers."
This year looks set to be a significant one for the company's Prius range of hybrid motors, as it is releasing two new vehicles - the Prius+ and the Prius Plug-In, which features a rechargeable battery to reduce running costs and carbon emissions.
The original Prius and the New Auris Hybrid are the only cars in the world to emit just 89g/km of CO2.
