Train passengers 'want improved arrival time information, toilets and waiting rooms'

Train passengers 'want improved arrival time information, toilets and waiting rooms'

Date: 7/1/2010

A new survey by a national passenger watchdog for train services has revealed the improvements to stations passengers would like to see more include better arrival time information, more station toilets and waiting rooms.

The survey by Passenger Focus was carried out as part of planning for the five-year national Stations Improvement Programme (NSIP), designed to improve facilities at over 150 stations.

Network Rail and Passenger Focus have been commissioned to survey passengers' perceptions of stations before and after works are undertaken.

According to Passenger Focus, rail users were least satisfied with cycle and car-parking facilities before the works.

Passenger Focus chief executive Anthony Smith stated: "Passengers continue to ask for more toilets and better facilities. We want the industry to start listening and act on passengers' requests."

A second survey will be carried out once the works are completed.

In related news, many train services in the UK have been disrupted due to freezing temperatures and blizzards.
