Transport managers offered advice on winter preparations

Date: 17/11/2011
Transport professionals are being offered advice on how to prepare for the harsh winter months. The Highways Agency noted "massive disruption" was caused to Britain's supply chain due to extreme weather conditions last year.
As a result, its winter preparation team is providing managers with advice and support to ensure they are able to keep disruption to a minimum.
Educational seminars are taking place up and down the country and so far the number of attendees has already surpassed that of 2010.
Tyre manufacturer Goodyear and energy provider Shell are supporting the initiative.
Adam Stanton, Product Marketing Manager of Commercial Tyres at Goodyear, said: "The series has been the perfect way to speak to transport managers about tyre related topics and news that this is now over 1,000 delegates is wonderful."
The Agency has already made a start on its preparations for winter, as it recently announced it has 500 state-of-the-art vehicles on stand-by ready for the coming months.
