Transport Minister looks to address problems with Scunthorpe to Doncaster route

Date: 22/3/2013
Transport Minister Simon Burns has pledged to explore potential ways to improve the experience of passengers while the Scunthorpe to Doncaster rail line is repaired. The track was damaged by a landslide last month, and Barton MP Martin Vickers has suggested temporarily "deregulating" certain ticket restrictions to help address problems travellers are facing.
And as the Scunthorpe Telegraph reports, Mr Burns has responded by claiming that he will assist with efforts to find a solution to the issue.
Speaking in relation to the train operators who run the route, the Minister said he would "ask them if they will look at the issue to see if there is a way that might help to make life easier."
A replacement bus service is currently taking passengers between Scunthorpe and Doncaster, from where East Coast rail services are said to be running normally.
According to Mr Vickers, efforts to repair the damaged line are estimated to take another 12 to 16 weeks.
