Transport Secretary gives £56.85m Bexhill-Hastings link road green light

Date: 4/4/2013
Work is set to begin on the Bexhill-Hastings link road after Transport Secretary Patrick McLoughlin gave the £56.85 million project final approval yesterday (April 3rd).The initiative will see East Sussex County Council construct a 3.5 mile single carriageway road between the A259 in Bexhill and the B2092 Queensway in Hastings, improving accessibility in the towns and facilitating further development of North East Bexhill.
"This scheme will kick start economic regeneration in a deprived area of the South-East and tackle problems of accessibility between the towns of Bexhill and Hastings," the Secretary said.
As well as increasing the ease with which motorists can travel to and from Bexhill and Hastings, the road will include a provision of a green way for cycling, walking and horse riding.
And now that the project has been granted final approval, it is scheduled to be completed in 2015 if work commences as planned.
