Transport services 'must be improved for business travellers'

Transport services 'must be improved for business travellers'

Date: 29/1/2010

The travel experience in the UK must improve for those who move around the country for business, it has been suggested.

Large projects such as airport expansion and high-speed railways are important, but making travel more pleasant in other ways is also significant, chief executive at the Guild of Travel Management Companies (GTMC) Anne Godfrey stated.

"With Heathrow for example, making it a better experience as well as possibly bigger at some stage, it's not always the most pleasant place to get round, if you're trying to do business and you're not in the business lounge, as our survey told us that that experience is not the experience of the majority of business travellers anymore," she explained.

Ms Godfrey stated that according to a recent survey by the GTMC, 70 per cent of those who fly for business currently fly economy and these people must be provided with better facilities to plug in their laptop and prepare for meetings when required.

Train stations must also provide better facilities, she added.
