Transport views sought from Cambridgeshire residents

Date: 8/2/2010
Cambridge county council is asking some residents for their opinion on transport in the area so that a comprehensive transport strategy can be planned for the region, it has been reported.Residents of Fenland are being asked to give their views in a questionnaire and a touring exhibition will be on show displaying the council's initial plans.
The tour will also visit Chatteris, Wisbech and Whittlesey and more information will be available on the council's website.
Once residents' views have been collated, a third Local Transport Plan of the County will be produced.
It will outline what transport schemes should come forward.
Previous Local Transport Plans have helped improve public transport access to town centres in the region.
They have also led to the introduction of a pedestrian bridge, motorcycle safety signs and a cycling scheme.
The council's cabinet member for strategic planning Roy Pegram commented: "We need to have a comprehensive transport plan for Cambridgeshire so that we can implement transport improvements, which people tell us are important."
