Travel emissions in the north-west to be cut?

Date: 27/5/2010
A new initiative has been launched to help reduce carbon emissions from travel in the north-west.The North West Regional Development Agency has funded the scheme, which will be run by the Energy Saving Trust.
Head of the Energy Saving Trust Catherine Monaghan stated: "Changing the way you travel is one of the ways in which you can make a big difference to your carbon footprint."
Homes in the region will be asked to fill in a short questionnaire that explores where costs could be saved and therefore lead to a lower carbon footprint.
Ms Monaghan said the organisation has expanded its service to help with energy-efficiency advice, which includes transport and travel.
Earlier this week, the government's new Roads Minster Mike Penning revealed he will make road safety one of his key issues in order to reduce the number of fatalities that occur on the roads.
He explained he will explore the motorcycle testing and training regime as well.
