TRL announce Rob Wallis as new CEO

Date: 2/7/2013

The Transport Research Foundation and TRL have revealed that their CEO, Dr Sue Sharland, is set to step down after 12 years with the organisation.

Dr Sharland will vacate her position in the autumn in order to pursue various roles which include working alongside the Presidential team at the Chartered Institution of Highways and Transportation, with Rob Wallis set to join TRL in her place.

Mr Wallis will arrive from BSI, where he was Managing Director for Europe, Middle East and Africa - a division comprising an estimated 1,000 employees.

Commenting on her departure, Dr Sharland said it had been a "privilege and a pleasure to lead TRL" - and added that she is "delighted" Mr Wallis has been appointed to replace her.

"I look forward to supporting him in his introduction to the company, our customers and our other stakeholders," she explained.

With Mr Wallis set to join TRL on July 15th, the incoming CEO revealed how very much he is looking forward to being a part of the organisation as it continues to pursue innovative transport technologies.
