Tube passengers 'more aggressive'

Date: 4/12/2009

Tube travel allegedly makes Londoners more aggressive, according to a report.

Some 3.5 million people pile into the Tube every day, which during peak times can sometimes translate into four travellers per square metre of train space.

A London assembly report entitled Too Close for Comfort outlined details of the passenger experience on the busy London Underground.

Details of the report claims passengers have given up on courteous behaviour in favour of a dog-eat-dog mentality.

The report said the Tube passengers go after a seat regardless of the disadvantaged passengers that may need it, like pregnant women and parents travelling with their children.

Transport for London asserts it is investing billions of pounds into improving the passenger experience for Tube travel.
