Two new pieces of traffic software produced

Date: 27/6/2012

TRL Software announces two new pieces of traffic signage and line design software.

The CAD based programmes are Sign Design Pro and Line Design Pro, which enable designs of any such traffic feature to (TSRGD 2002) Traffic Signs Regulations and General Directions 2002 standards.

In addition, a number of international standards are in the process of being added to the software in order to make its usage more widespread.

Gavin Jackman, Head of Software at TRL says; "These two Design Pro Software titles fit in really closely with our view of the Building Information Modelling world.

"We believe that the simple interface makes the design process simple and easy."

Original or custom made signs can be created through the software as unique entities or based upon those within the programme's libraries, whilst line and road surface markings can be added by the user, simply by selecting where they should be located.

A number of features allow those new to sign designing as well as experienced practitioners to create complicated sign designs.

Standard within the software are interactive arms, symbols and sign faces, lane signing, standardised libraries and a Tiger Tail tool.

Sign Design Pro allows the designer to create posts and foundations for their signs which represent value for money while also being safe and structurally sound, as the software has the ability to test how they will stand up to conditions experienced in the real world.

Posts are tested to withstand bending, shear capacity and deflection and foundations are measured against overturning, bearing pressure and sliding.

Mr Jackman said: "It aligns perfectly with our existing range of products, such as TRANSYT, ARCADY and PICADY, and of course the AutoTrack link from Savoy Computing, where changes in a junction design can necessitate the need for new sign and line designs."
