Vans 'essential' for businesses

Vans 'essential' for businesses

Date: 22/2/2012

Vans are an "essential" part of running many businesses, which is why the government's plug-in van grant is so important.

This is according to Business Minister Mark Prisk, who discussed the matter after the Department for Transport revealed which seven vehicles will be eligible for the scheme.

He explained enterprises make a huge contribution to the British economy and therefore it is beneficial to the country to offer them discounts on eco-friendly motors.

"An upfront purchase grant, when combined with lower running costs and tax benefits, can make switching to an ultra low carbon van an attractive choice for those businesses," Mr Prisk stated.

He explained the seven vans that have been chosen should suit the budgets of many companies, as well as look good.

The scheme is an extension of the plug-in car grant and motors eligible for this initiative include the Nissan Leaf, Mia, Toyota Prius Plug-in Hybrid and Citroen CZero.
