Date: 24/5/2012
The number of people who attended this year's EcoVelocity event was significantly higher than last year. There was a seven-fold increase in attendees, with 57,909 individuals turning up for the nine-day show at London's ExCeL.
Managing Director of EcoVelocity Giles Brown said the organisers are "delighted" by the popularity of the event, which aims to help those wanting to know more about sustainable vehicles.
The test drives proved particularly popular, as a 3.5-km route was set up allowing visitors to try out low-carbon motors from the likes of Citroen, Honda, Nissan and Vauxhall.
Paul Evans of Venture Automotive - Mia-Electric UK said: "EcoVelocity this year proved that there is now real interest in electric vehicles and an understanding by the general public that our driving habits need to change."
He claimed he was "amazed" by the level of interest and was impressed by the fact attendees seemed more knowledgeable than at last year's event.
