Warrington to hold driving tests as part of govt trial

Date: 13/2/2012
Practical driving tests are once again to take place in Warrington. The town's previous test centre closed in 2008.The Driving Standards Agency (DSA) will reintroduce the service from March 5th on a temporary basis, with exams running from the Paddington House Hotel on Manchester Road.
From June, tests will then take place from Warrington Borough Council's Orford Community Hub as part of a new initiative to run exams from locations other than conventional test centres.
Road Safety Minister Mike Penning said the new method of delivering tests from alternative locations is "flexible and innovative."
"Our aim is to offer a local service that is convenient for candidates as well as being cost effective," he added.
The DSA is running trials up and down the country to assess new ways of delivering tests.
This comes after the Department for Transport recently announced changes to the driving theory test that mean pre-published questions are no longer being used.
