Warwickshire calls for county-wide transport improvements

Date: 1/7/2013
Warwickshire's Chamber of Commerce has called for road and railway upgrades across the county - including improvements to the M6.As the BBC reports, while the M6 is set to see its hard shoulder opened as an extra lane during peak hours under the Government's current programme, further steps could be taken to increase the efficiency of the area's transport network.
Peter Burns, the Chamber's Vice-President, explained that numerous avenues should be explored to ensure Warwickshire infrastructure is capable of meeting the needs of residents and visitors.
"Whether you then build additional roads, whether you then do better things with the railways, there's a whole load of things needs to happen," he said.
Indeed, while he welcomed the attempts to improve travel on the M6, he added that it won't necessarily provide the upgrades the county needs to enhance its transport system and improve the flow of traffic on its roads.
