Wembley Corridor project bags TfL award

Date: 8/4/2013
The Wembley Corridor project which involved the transformation of the area between Wembley Park and Wembley Central train stations has been recognised by the (TfL) Transport for London awards. As the Brent and Kilburn Times reports, the initiative involved widening pavements and reconfiguring the traffic system around the Wembley Triangle in order to increase pedestrian access.
And following further enhancements in July 2012, the scheme has now been highly commended in 'the excellence in walking & public realm' category by TfL.
"Congratulations to all those involved the Wembley Corridor project for this amazing achievement," said Councillor Jim Moher, Brent's Lead Member for Highways and Transportation.
"The TfL Awards are the most prestigious in London so to have the scheme recognised in such a way is a real testament to their hard work and shows that we really have made significant improvements for pedestrians and road users alike."
As part of the overhaul in the area, the Empire Way roundabout was revamped and shallow rooted trees were planted on walkways.
