White Rose Way to receive £17m upgrade

Date: 4/4/2012
A total of £17 million is to be spent on upgrading White Rose Way in Doncaster.Between junction 3 of the M18 to the roundabout at Potteric Carr, the road will be dualled in an attempt to reduce traffic jams and congestion.
New footpaths and cycleways will also be introduced, as well as some toucan crossings.
Transport Secretary Justine Greening said the road is "very important" and the changes "are going to make the world of difference to local people and businesses".
The scheme is one of 20 up and down the UK given initial approval in chancellor of the exchequer George Osborne's Autumn Statement last year.
Ms Greening added that the initiative will support jobs and have environmental benefits.
These are not the only road improvements set to take place over the coming months, as the Transport Secretary announced in December last year that £854 is to be invested in 21 local transport schemes, including the widening of Chester Road in Birmingham.
