Women drivers 'are easily distracted'

Women drivers 'are easily distracted'

Date: 21/7/2010

Men think women are often distracted by kids, scenery and other motorists when they are behind the wheel, according to a new study.

In addition, the research from Onepoll.com revealed more than a third of men do not feel safe if their wife or partner is driving.

And one-in-ten males have admitted they often have to grab the wheel, as their other half regularly takes her eyes off the road.

A spokesman for the organisation explained that a lot of men think they are more skilled than their female counterparts when it comes to driving.

"They believe they concentrate a lot better, read road situations more quickly and clearly and have better reactions," he added.

Researchers at TRL (Transport Research Laboratory) recently carried out a study on behalf of Direct Line into what can affect a motorist's reaction times.

Investigators discovered it can take up to 13 per cent longer to respond to an incident if there are children arguing in the back of the car.
