Work on bridge and underpass project in Abu Dhabi gets underway

Work to construct a new bridge and underpass at the Sweihan - Al Hayer main road in Abu Dhabi is now underway, the city's (DoT) Department of Transport announced today (March 21st).The aim of the initiative is to maintain traffic safety and improve traffic flows in the Nahil area of Al Ain City, forming part of the DoT's Surface Transport Master Plan.
According to the organisation, the project will help to meet the needs of the growing population and also facilitate urban expansion, with the underpass set to consist of one lane in each direction.
The bridge will be 15.5 metres in width and eight metres in height, and will include a 1.5 metre-wide pedestrian sidewalk for use in the case of emergencies.
With lighting and water drainage systems also set to be included as part of the project, the DoT says this it is scheduled to be completed by the end of the year.
