'World's first' full hybrid luxury compact vehicle promises quiet

A 'quiet revolution' has been launched by one vehicle manufacturer, which claims to have created the world's first fully hybrid luxury compact car.

The CT 200h combines full-hybrid performance with low carbon emissions and positive fuel efficiency, according to its manufacturer, Lexus.

In addition, the vehicle sets 'new benchmarks' in tranquillity, thanks to its quieter-than-average motor - which combines petrol and electric power.

When it is put into Electric Vehicle mode, the car burns no fuel, therefore producing no emissions and meaning that the noise of the engine is low.

However, Lexus has broken with this silence somewhat to begin the vehicle's launch campaign by creating a television advertisement that features Kylie Minogue and almost 30 drummers.

Ms Minogue explains the meaning behind the advert, saying: "The CT 200h is your own space for peace and quiet amongst the hustle and bustle of the world."

Belinda Poole, Lexus Director, described the singer as the "ideal" brand ambassador for the carmaker.
