Young drivers urged to stay safe at work

Young drivers urged to stay safe at work

Date: 13/5/2010

A scheme to encourage safer driving for young people who get behind the wheel as part of their job has been launched by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA).

Safety experts from the establishment will visit businesses and hold safety workshops designed for those aged between 17 and 24.

The sessions will let employees discuss their personal experiences of driving for work and habits they have picked up, along with issues like new vehicles, deadlines or travelling to new locations.

Head of road safety at the organisation Kevin Clinton remarked: "We … hope our two new RoSPA-led options will benefit many firms and young at-work drivers, particularly by giving employers the confidence to lead their own sessions in the future."

RoSPA has been around for more than 90 years and the charity promotes the prevention of accidents on the road, at work, in the home and at leisure.
