Young footballers support London road safety campaign

Date: 29/10/2010
A new campaign from Transport for London (TfL) to reduce the number of accidents on the city's roads is to receive help from Premiership Academy footballers. The youngsters, training at clubs such as Fulham, Queens Park Rangers, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United, are encouraging their peers to take extra care on the roads as the clocks go back.
TfL's Look Out for Your Mates campaign aims to stop rising casualties among younger drivers - who may use cars to travel home from school - as the evenings get darker earlier.
Kulveer Ranger, the Mayor of London's Transport Adviser, said: "Thousands of young people look up to footballers and as a football fan myself, I'm delighted that the capital's top talent is helping us to get this important message across."
Leading musicians such as Tinie Tempah, Tinchy Stryder and Eliza Doolittle, as well as rising stars Rox and Jaya, recently threw their weight behind TfL's road safety campaign.
