Youngsters on scooters 'are an accident waiting to happen'

Youngsters on scooters 'are an accident waiting to happen'

Date: 17/11/2010

Young people need to be aware of the potential dangers of motorcycling, a biker who was almost killed in an accident has warned.

Wayne Lambert spent over 24 hours in a coma and suffered a ruptured spleen, a broken heart valve and three broken ribs after a head-on collision with a bus in February this year, the Watford Observer reports.

He has vowed never to ride again and is still trying to piece together the details of the incident, as he has no memory of the events that led to the crash.

Mr Lambert said young lads weaving in and out of traffic on scooters are a common sight, but "they just need to look at me to see how dangerous it can be."

"They think they are invincible but they are an accident waiting to happen," he added.

Last month, Constable Mike Abram of Merseyside Police urged motorcyclists to stay safe on the roads by ensuring their helmets are fastened properly, according to the Wirral Globe.
