Zap-Map 'details more charging points than ever'

Date: 2/5/2012
Next Green Car's Zap-Map now details over 2,250 electric vehicle charging points. The map covers 921 locations up and down the UK and aims to provide motorists with a comprehensive guide of where they will be able to recharge their motor.
It uses data from the government-funded National Chargepoint Registry and will also draw on other sources to accurately update the map on a weekly basis.
Next Green Car's Melanie Shufflebotham claimed the resource will be a useful tool for motorists as more electric vehicles are launched in Britain, such as Toyota's Plug-in Prius.
She added that it will help overcome the issue of "range anxiety" - when people are unsure how far away they are from a charging point.
Managing Director of the organisation Dr Ben Lane agreed and noted the government's decision to extend its Plug-In Car Grant to include vans will increase the need for a well-established network of charging points.
