EU Road Deaths Down by 12% in 2012

Date: 17/6/2013
The ETSC's Road Safety Performance Index (PIN) is a policy instrument to help EU Member States improve road safety. By comparing Member States' performance, it serves to identify and promote Best Practice in Europe.
Started in June 2006, the Index covers all relevant areas of road safety including road user behaviour, infrastructure and vehicles, as well as road safety policy making more generally. National research organisations and independent researchers from 31 countries participating in the programme ensure that any assessment carried out within the programme is based on scientific evidence and is effectively communicated to European road safety policy makers.
The latest publication of the PIN programme was presented during the 7th annual PIN conference and the good news is that in 2012 there were 2,661 fewer road deaths in the EU than in 2011. TRL is part of the ETSC PIN panel who provide the data and contribute to this report. Click here for the full story.
