Pedestrian Safety Seminar is Runaway Success

An audience of road safety officers, police and transport practitioners gave the pedestrian safety seminar held at TRL the thumbs up last week. The seminar, organised jointly by TRL and Road Safety GB as part of their commitment to the Decade of Action for Road Safety was fully subscribed and feedback suggests this was a quality event.

Over 86% of respondents rated the seminar overall as Good or Very Good, 79% said it would be Helpful or Very Helpful in their day to day activities, and 92% rated the presentations as Good or Very Good.

Darren Divall, an International Road Safety Consultant with TRL and Head of the Road Safety GB Academy, chaired the pedestrian safety seminar and was delighted with the response, “The feedback received from delegates highlights that this was a well received event. More importantly, all practitioners attending the seminar went away with a wealth of practical knowledge and advice that they can implement to enhance existing programmes or to develop new schemes. These enhancements will no doubt have a positive effect on pedestrian road safety in the UK.”

Not only was the not-for-profit event a success in terms of education and information exchange, it also generated a surplus of £2,260 which will be donated to the Global Road Safety Fund.

TRL and Road Safety GB are keen to run more courses and seminars in the future. Delegates from the pedestrian safety seminar have already indicated a number of topics they would like covered.
