This is the first edition of a suite of four standards produced for the National Police Chief's Council. The standard was created by bringing together current best police practice (from stakeholders and existing documentation) as well as best practice from commercial fleet operators and other industries such as aviation to create a comprehensive approach to the police vehicle lifecycle. The standards have been designed to meet the following aims
  1. Bring together best practice from across policing
  2. Create a consistent national standard for ?eet management
  3. Set out national minimum requirements while encouraging excellence
  4. Empower and support ?eet managers
  5. Ensure a safe and e?ective ?eet

The standards reflect the unique characteristics and challenges of police fleets in the UK and are designed to support the adoption of new vehicle technologies as they become available.

The four standards cover the full lifecycle of fleet operations:
  • Acquisition
  • Conversion
  • Maintenance
  • Disposal

This standard is hosted by TRL at the request of the NPCC.
