Tyre Derived Rubber Material - TDRM
Welcome to the home page of the Tyre Derived Rubber Material (TDRM) Certification Scheme. This scheme helps producers demonstrate to their customers, their compliance to PAS 107 and the TDRM Quality protocol (QP). |

The purpose of the Tyre Derived Rubber Material Certification Scheme is to demonstrate compliance with
- PAS107:2007 Specification for the manufacture and storage of size reduced tyre materials
- Quality Protocol - End of waste criteria for the production and use of tyre-derived rubber materials
Successful certification to the requirements of both documents enables the producer to reclassify items produced from tyre-derived rubber material as products, enabling end users to legitimately operate without waste permits.
Products
Tyre Derived Rubber Material (TDRM) products are certain categories of tyres which are cut, shredded, granulated, and powdered. Tyres are derived from land based vehicles including bicycles, motorcycles, cars, light commercial vehicles, trucks, buses, and industrial and agricultural vehicles. A list of certified producers under the TDRM Waste Protocol to supply these products can be found here. These products are often themselves further processed into final end use products including for example, use in construction, sports fields, equestrian ménages, playgrounds, and street furniture.
Certification
Certified Producers of Tyre Derived Rubber Material made in accordance with the documents listed above may advertise the fact by using the Certification Mark below:

Producers of Tyre Derived Rubber Material may apply to any suitably UKAS-accredited Certification Body which operates the Tyre Derived Rubber Material Certification Scheme. Certification follows an audit of the producer's operations to the requirements of the documents listed above. Producers are audited on a regular basis to ensure ongoing compliance.
Certification Bodies operating the Tyre Derived Rubber Material Certification Scheme are listed here. Further details for any Certification Body considering offering the Scheme are listed here.
Validation
The Certification Scheme is subject to rigorous validation from two sources:
- UKAS - for the validation of Certification Bodies' application of the Certification Scheme
- Technical Advisory Committee - for the validation of the Certification Scheme rules
Misuse of the Certification Mark is taken seriously, please contact TRL if you suspect the quality of any certified products you are offered.
The Tyre Derived Rubber Material Certification Scheme development was funded by and remains the copyright of WRAP (Waste and Resources Action Programme). WRAP helps individuals, businesses and local authorities to reduce waste and recycle more, making better use of resources and helping to tackle climate change. Established as a not-for-profit company in 2000, WRAP is backed by government funding from England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
