TRL has over 40 years of experience in the design and testing of vehicle restraint systems (safety barriers) and played a major part in the original design and deployment of vehicle restraint systems on British roads in the 1960s and 1970s. Today, whilst maintaining this work, TRL actively participates in associated areas of research and development at national, European and international levels.

We assist the government through our applied research, resulting in updated legislation with safety being the prime focus. Governments are continually re-aligning legislation to keep consumers safe and TRL is instrumental throughout the process.
